The Forbidden City in the Louvre

of France
With 130 major loans to France from China, this exhibition is not only a milestone in heritage relations between the two countries, but a chance to see some of the most impressive Oriental lacquerware, paintings, vases, militaria and calligraphic material. The Louvre's gallery space is used innovatively to trace the contemporary lines of French and Chinese rulers, with a particular focus on the relations between the nations.

In The Kingdom of Alexander the Great: Ancient Macedonia
A selection of 500 artworks trace the history of Ancient Macedonia from 15th century BC to the Imperial Roman age. There is a special focus on tombs and burials over time and what light this sheds on the artistry of the ages.

The Gauls: A Stunning Exhibition
This hands-on exhibition introduces the visitor to a range of cultural interpretations of the Gauls, before reaching the excavated material from the collection. Having been invited to experience some of the archaeological methods involved and the work done, as well as immersing yourself in the reconstructions of the tombs, it is possible to reappraise any preconceptions you may have had of the Gallic civilisation.
